This notice explains what Studymancer collects, why it is needed, who may process it, how long it is kept, and the choices available to you. Last reviewed 24 July 2026.

What we collect
Your account details, material you submit, study answers and results, learning progress, and the minimum billing identifiers needed to provide the service.
Why we use it
To run your account, analyse the study material you choose, show your history and progress, protect the service, and administer purchases. Student content is not used for broad analytics or model training by default.
Who may process it
Studymancer's contracted hosting, storage, authentication, payment, and AI providers process only the data needed for their task. Source uploads remain private.
Access and correction
You can download the categories below and edit your display name. You may also ask the privacy contact to correct other personal information or attach a statement of correction.
Deletion
You can delete finished work or your account. Account deletion removes active profile, study, derived learning, and private-upload data; narrowly separated billing evidence may remain where law or disputes require it.
What is required and what is optional
A name, email address, and authentication credential are required to create and secure an account. Without them, Studymancer cannot provide a saved private account. Study text and files are optional; they are collected only when you choose a feature that needs them, and that analysis cannot run without the selected material.
Billing information is needed only when you make a purchase. Stripe collects payment-method details; Studymancer keeps customer, subscription, purchase, and fulfilment identifiers rather than full card details.
Providers and overseas processing
Supabase provides authentication, Postgres, and private storage; Stripe provides billing; hosting and AI providers process the minimum data needed for their task. Some processing may occur outside New Zealand. Provider, region, contractual protection, retention, training, and deletion settings must be reviewed before that provider is enabled.
Studymancer does not sell personal information and does not use student content for broad behavioural analytics or model training by default.
How long data is kept
Account and profile
Kept while your account is open. Profile data is removed when account deletion completes. Edit your display name or delete your account in Settings.
Study work and derived learning data
Kept so you can return to your history and learning patterns, until you delete the work or your account. Delete finished analyses individually or delete your account.
Private source uploads
Kept with the analysis that uses them. An upload that never becomes part of a job is queued for deletion after 24 hours. Deleting the related analysis queues unshared files for removal.
Data export archive
Available for 48 hours, then deleted from private storage. The request history is kept briefly for delivery and failure recovery. Download during the stated window or request a fresh export.
Billing and purchase evidence
Separated from study data after account deletion and retained only where accounting, tax, disputes, or fraud prevention require it. It is not used to rebuild your profile or for study recommendations.
Deleted active data may remain in restricted provider backups until the provider's documented backup cycle expires.
Information about another person
Do not upload another person's information unless you are permitted to do so. Remove names and unrelated details where practical. If Studymancer receives identifiable information about you from another source, it will take reasonable steps to tell you the fact and purpose of collection, intended recipients, agency details, any relevant legal authority, and your access and correction rights unless a lawful exception applies.
Access, correction, and deletion
Signed-in users can edit their display name, request a scoped private export, delete finished analyses, and request account deletion in Settings. A self-service export does not limit the right to make a formal access or correction request.
Privacy Act access and correction decisions are generally due within 20 working days, subject to lawful transfer, extension, and withholding rules. If a requested correction is declined, you may ask for a statement of correction to be attached to the disputed information and may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
Account deletion is a Studymancer product control, not a promise that every record can lawfully be erased. Narrow billing evidence may be retained separately where tax, accounting, disputes, or fraud prevention require it.
Security and breaches
Studymancer uses private storage, owner checks, row-level security, least-privilege grants, short-lived signed downloads, bounded queues, and server-only secrets. If a privacy breach has caused or is likely to cause serious harm, the privacy owner must assess and make the notifications required by the Privacy Act as soon as practicable.
